    Position Overview

    The Interior Designer we are seeking is a highly organized person with skill and passion for design. Our Interior Design team is responsible for space planning, furniture and lighting design, and model apartment and common area installations at our 60 apartment communities located in 7 states. 

    • Develop innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to the intended function; reflective of client goals; and within project budget
    • Conduct space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting and color coordination
    • Select furniture, lighting, flooring, wall covering and artwork coordinating color and material palettes
    • Estimate material requirements and preliminary costs
    • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects
    • Render conceptual design ideas and prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings
    • Prepare digital board and conduct client presentations
    • Prepare, correct and update documents during schematic design and design development phases
    • Solicit bids and assist Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of the materials, finishes, and furnishings
    • Keep the project, or a phase of a project, on schedule
    • Communicate with other departments, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provide support as necessary
    • Support the construction administration phase responding to RFI’s, CO’s, and review of shop drawings
    • Implement and utilize IMT standards for all projects and processes
    • Travel to all market states for installations
    • Report directly to Senior Interior Designer


    Please apply if you have:


    • Creative talent in conceptual design and rendering skills of either hand or computer sketching
    • Knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness
    • Advanced knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, signage, art, and color schemes to carryout design intent
    • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, construction documents and digital presentation boards
    • Basic knowledge of building regulations and safety codes
    • Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines
    • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; AutoCAD Architectural Desktop; Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and InDesign graphic software
    • Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects in order to meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clients
    • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
    • Ability and desire to work in collaborative team environment
    • Bachelor's degree in architecture or interior design
    • 5+ years of experience in interior design projects

    • Knowledge of commercial or multi-family real estate design
